Madaket turbine opponents to meet with Energy Study Committee ahead of vote

(Dec. 30 , 2011 ) Common Sense Nantucket, the group fighting the proposed Madaket wind turbine project, has agreed to meet with members of the Energy Study Committee and the town Energy Office next Tuesday, just a day before the Board of Selectmen is scheduled to vote on whether to put a funding article for the project on the 2012 Annual Town Meeting warrant.

(Dec. 29 , 2011 ) As seems to be the case every year, Nantucket continued to generously support and avidly appreciate the arts in 2011, welcoming a variety of entertainment to the island, like the 15th annual Boston Pops concert at Jetties Beach to benefit Nantucket Cottage Hospital, and the return of “The Cast of Beatlemania,” a musical fundraiser for the Nantucket Food Pantry.

Supreme Court sides with Cape Wind

On Wednesday the state Supreme Court rejected arguments by the Alliance to Protect Nantucket Sound and several other groups that the 2009 power purchase agreement between Cape Wind and National Grid was not in the public interest, cost effective and should have been solicited through competitive bidding.
